The Akai mk3 keyboard brings the Akai pretty close to Arturia, so I consider it a wash vs how it was with the mk2.

Keys are a little longer and wider, so play is a little more comfortable

Heavier than you expect when you pick it upĭirect access to change MIDI channel on the keyboard They moved the USB port to the back finally (like the Arturia, mk2 had an awkward position on the right side of the device) Joystick (not a fan, but depends on you and your use case) Nice MPC drum pads and better placement, imo Is this more for production or playing live? How sensitive are you to key feel & size? Is it going to sit on a desk or do you want it to be more mobile? How much do you care about pads & knobs? Do you prefer endless encoders? Which DAW are you using?įeels more like plastic, smaller & lighter Honestly, it really depends on how you plan to use it, and you're going to have a good time with most of the name brand controllers in this range.
